Spring Vehicle Maintenance Check List

Spring Vehicle Maintenance

Spring is a good time to wash away the winter grim and tune up your ride. After a season of cold temperatures, harsh weather, and road salt, your car needs a little extra care. Say goodbye to winter and prepare for warm weather driving with this spring car maintenance checklist!

Spring Maintenance Checklist

Brake Maintenance

One of the most important tasks on your Spring Checklist is getting a brake inspection. Your anti-lock brake system works overtime in the winter, so it’s important to ensure that it is running properly.  Have a technician check the pads and rotors to ensure there are no safety issues. Neglecting them can lead to a costlier repair down the line.

Have your brakes inspected immediately if you notice any of the following:  squeaking or grinding noises as you brake, if it becomes harder to brake (you have to push the pedal down more), or your car pulls to one side or the other while braking. For more information on your vehicles brakes check out our blog on brakes.

HVAC System Inspection

One feature you probably don’t use often during winter is the air conditioner.  Your car’s A/C system isn’t just for your comfort; it also helps keep your engine cool in the hot summer months. Before summer’s hot days you want to make sure your vehicle’s A/C is working properly. Have your vehicles HVAC system inspected by one of our expert service techs.  ABC's & DEF's of Air Conditioning has lots of great information about your vehicle’s HVAC system.

Tire Maintenance

Have you ever noticed that your vehicle’s tire pressure light usually illuminates on your dashboard after a cold night or hot day? Vehicles tire air pressure fluctuates with the outside temperature. Learn more by reading What to do When Your Tire Light is On.

Spring is also a great time for a tire rotation. Mechanics recommend tire rotation every 5,000 miles to keep tread wear even.

Wash and Wax Your Car

Salt, used on roads to melt ice and snow, can cause serious damage to cars, especially their undercarriages where metal can rust. Wash your vehicle to remove all sand and salt- especially the under carriage.

For long lasting results you should have your vehicle waxed.  A layer of wax protects the vehicle’s clear coat and paint. We have a blog for that too!
